Tribeca Loft
A São Paulo native in search of an NYC pied-à-terre became charmed by Tribeca loft’s oversized ceiling beams, and the raw industrial locale out the window. The client and the designer enthusiastically embraced the challenges and set to make some key changes. The windows were replaced with balcony doors to allow maximum daylight and to add even a small outdoor space. The tin ceiling was removed exposing the original beams and decking, which were fireproofed with a transparent, matte coating. The new, polished elements of the loft balance the restored, distressed ones; the loft resonates with the past and the present.
